There is a strong Christian man who when praying always thanks the Lord for His “wonderful words of life!” It brings to mind the old hymn that goes, “Sing them over again to me, wonderful words of life. Let me more of their beauty see, wonderful words of life!” The Word is everything to the believer. Wonderful, beautiful, powerful, practical and oh! so much more.
God’s Word addresses every circumstance in life. If you are overwhelmed, you can identify with what David said in Psalm 55:1-2: “Listen to my prayer, O God. Do not ignore my cry for help! Please listen and answer me, for I am overwhelmed by my troubles.” Then in verse 22, we read the powerful truth of what happens when we cry out to God. “Give your burdens to the LORD, and He will take care of you.
He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” As believers, we give up our worldly rights, but in exchange, we receive spiritual rights such as the assurance of knowing that God will not let us slip and fall no matter how overwhelmed we feel.
When we are afraid, we find these instructional words: “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.” (Isaiah 43:1b-2)
Interestingly, God has created man to be self-sufficient from physical birth; but once we are born again He becomes our sufficiency. We no longer have to fear the ways of the world because He has promised to be with us always. He is our Protector, our Provider, God in His omniscience gave us all we need to cope with life in this world.
The solution for whatever ails us lies within the pages of His Word. The Bible gives us examples of the struggles all believers encounter and shows us how to deal with them. God’s Word truly is a wonder. Choose today to obey His wonderful, beautiful words of life.
