God spoke to Jonah; Jonah didn’t like what he heard; he ran. God pursued him. Now be honest with yourself: isn’t that exactly what all of us want? As children, we would rebel against our parents, but all the while what we really wanted was for our parents to show us a little attention.

Well, Jonah got his attention from the Father and with that attention came a complete change of attitude. He remembered God, scripture tells us, and knew that it was from God that salvation came. He cried out to God. Then the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah up onto the dry land.

We hope by this point that Jonah has learned his lesson. As we go through this lesson, we will look at how Jonah reacts to the “second chance” he is given by God.
