Myanmar Update March – April

May 26, 2023 | Articles

Dear Brother and Sister,

It is with a great and progressive joy that I am writing this update. God’s protection was so evident throughout my intense trip and your prayers had all been answered. I had not only taught the Bible students but I also had the joy of training pastoral leaders in two places. Also, we went to a village for four nights and three days teaching and was asked to come back for book study again. During this time, I had the privilege teaching God’s word to the police wives in Hakha in the cell department and this was my first time and thus it was something I will never forget. They were all brought to tears as they listened intently with a hunger for change.

On my return journey, I was escorted by three pastors to half of the trip and the rest, I was escorted by five young people who volunteered as the People Defense Force. They took me through paths they made for themselves and scary I was but we did not encounter any attack from the military personnel.

Day after tomorrow, I leave again to Humalyn, main town of Sagaing division and will be speaking to pastoral leaders on sermon prep and deacons responsibilities and also to all the church folks on Salvation and the Christian Life. God has led me to speak from the life of Paul and his encountering with Jesus on the road to Damascus and also on temptation and how God delivers us.

Please pray for God’s protection and my teaching to be in line with God’s word and my health as well. My family is doing well and thank you all for you partnership in the Gospel.

Sincerely in Christ, Philip Van Lal Lian
