In God’s Own Words

Who are we to judge what’s happening in the world today? Really. What do our opinions matter when it comes to fixing global problems? No matter how informed we might think we are, we cannot possibly know the full story of what’s playing out around us here at home, much less across the oceans.

As believers, however, we do have the privilege of sharing God’s perfect plan with the world. Unfortunately, more often than not, we struggle to find the right words.

The good news is we don’t have to come up with them on our own. We only need look in God’s written word (the Bible) for the wisdom and advice the world needs today. No other religion has the fullness of God’s word at its disposal as Christians do. We have the Bible. From Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 we have the best of God’s wisdom with which to address the mess we are currently caught up in.

When we find confusion in the world, the Bible says that God is not the author of confusion. And if not He,it must be the devil. When we worry about food, shelter and clothing, the scriptures tell us God will take care of us. When we feel under attack from without, we know that He is still with us. No matter the circumstances, God’s grace is sufficient. We can always bank on the Truth.

The Bible also tells us not to fear man but to fear God. He provides the peace that passes all understanding. All we have to do is ask. He gives us the heart to pray for our enemies and to remember that He loves them as much as He loves us. He promises that everyone will be judged rightly for what they’ve done, and He will mete out the justice. That’s His responsibility, not ours.

God has given us free choice, and we would do well to turn to Him for answers when we don’t understand. We have the responsibility to use His words only to help with the knotty problems. What a gift He has given! Because of His wisdom, we have answers that are well beyond the scope of our mere mortal ability.
